The Head of Data is accountable for establishing trusted, governed and readily usable enterprise data that enables better insurance decisions and measurable business value. The role leads data strategy, governance, platforms, engineering, business intelligence, advanced analytics and artificial intelligence, ensuring accurate and timeous information for pricing, underwriting, claims, reserving, finance and regulatory reporting. It turns data into insight that improves margin, retention, portfolio quality, customer outcomes and operational efficiency, while providing near-real-time visibility of critical business performance.
The role builds the capabilities required to scale responsible AI and create new value from Abacus data through products, partnerships and insight-led opportunities. Data commercialisation must be lawful, ethical, privacy-preserving and consistent with customer, contractual and regulatory obligations. The Head of Data works closely with Actuarial, Finance and accountable business owners: the role owns data foundations, pipelines, quality, lineage and reporting enablement, while actuarial judgement, business interpretation and statutory sign-off remain with the designated accountable functions.
